Eddie Izzard - Sexie 2003

Project Overview:

The show was technically grand and took five trucks, three buses and an entourage of 35 people plus 30 local crew to help put Izzard on stage for his back-to back arena tour. The acoustic dynamics were far more demanding that if it had been a rock'n'roll show purely because the physical output coming at the audience was so different; Izzard's whispers, mumbles, screams, sound effects and extreme tonal/vocal range were tricky to turn into something audible, however the Martin line array system proved exceptionally efficient at delivering precise sound articulations and reinforcement.

Although the shows ran over the Christmas period the crew was kept in
high spirits with festive music and crackers every dinner time. The whole team have positive memories, including Izzard who ended up breaking box office records for a one man show - selling out on four consecutive nights
at Wembley Arena!

Client History:

Capital Sound initially provided the audio for Izzard's 1999 Circle theatre tour, which included two arena shows in Ireland giving him his first taste of a larger concert environment. Izzard soon after hosted a one-off Amnesty International televised gig at Wembley arena; this and the successful finale of his recent tour gave him the inspiration and confidence to realise his biggest ambition... an arena tour!
