Il Divo

Project Overview:

The Villiers Theatre nestling just on the strand in central London was the chosen venue for Il Divo to perform a special one off 'Mothers day' concert. The theatre's extremely small with a very narrow stage and a deep, tiered seating auditorium. The Martin Audio mini line array was the perfect tool for the job enabling the band to be able to work the full width of the stage with a poky, high quality system to throw audio to the entire seated area, at a consistent level, from the front to the back rows of the seating. Two Meyer UPA1P cabinets were set on delays positioned left and right of the side balcony providing coverage for the seats obstructed by the balcony structures. Monitors consisted of four low profile 12J bi-amplified models
on 4 discreet mixes.

Client history:

Capital were initially approached by BMG Records (as it was then) to assist in the advising and sourcing of sound expertise for a new Simon Cowell project. The early work involved operating the sound in the studio to establish the style of monitoring that would suit the artist. In-ear V wedge monitors was the question; what type would assist the band in their open style of vocal? Once established, the studio work led on to launch showcases in several UK venues where Capital provided high end audio directly to SonyBMG, through Hot Creative Productions. The band has recently been touring the world promoting their album. Ian Colville, a regular Capital engineer, joined them whenever and wherever they performed live.
